Five Reasons Why Going To The Pool Is Just Like Real Life

Hi.

About two months ago, I started going to the community pool near my place once or twice a week in an attempt to break out of a funk in my life I'd like to call unemployment. Going regularly, I see a couple of the same few people every week and have figured out the pool culture, and realized that it's pretty similar to how it should be in your day-to-day life.

1. Most people don't understand that you have to get ready before swimming.

Besides the obvious point that you have to be dressed appropriately, you have to warm up/stretch before going in for a swim. Like most exercises, you need some form of pre-game before really getting down to it, or else you'll end up with the horrible foot cramp we're all familiar with.

It's the same with life, you can't just be well-groomed or have a nice job title. You have to be ready and doing good internally too! Are you mentally prepared for that job? Are you emotionally ready to be in that relationship? Or are you constantly eating food that you know is junk? It's all about being well inside and out.

2. No matter how many times you've gone up and down what you've established is your lane, some bastard will ruin your groove.
You know when you've been in the same lane for at least 20 minutes, and some fucker, who has been in the area for long enough to have at least noticed that you've been in the same lane for at least 20 minutes, just decides to float about and just stand there right in your lane for no apparent reason. This legitimately makes me so mad, and as much as I've accepted that this is a thing that happens, it still pisses me off.
No matter how long you've been doing your job or you know, doing things in general, there is always someone there to unnecessarily ruin things for you. It really isn't a big deal, but it really ruins a couple of minutes of your day and you just spend the rest of the day glaring at that person. And it's okay, it happens, but don't let it ruin your whole day. Use that rage as fuel to do better for the rest of the day.

3. No matter how clean your pool is, just accept the fact that someone has and will pee in it.

Unless you have your own pool or you're the first person in after a cleaning, just accept that the body of water you are willingly dunking yourself in for an extended amount of time contains a small percentage of urine. There is no way around it. The earlier you accept this, the earlier you'll forget and get used to it.

Nothing is perfect, and no amount of effort on our part could change that. Sometimes we see flaws in ourselves, and sometimes other people see flaws in us. We just have to accept that shit happens (I hope to God, not anywhere near the pool) and we can only do so much to fix it.

4. If the pool is dirty, don't go into it. Obviously.

Accepting that you are soaking in water mixed with a bit of pee is one thing, willingly going in a pool that is clearly dirty is something else. Call me stupid, but I love wave pools with every fibre of my being, and one incredibly hot summer day, my cousins and I decided to go down to the water park and attempt to cool down. When we got there, we found out that the entire city had the same idea, and the wave pool ended up being more people than water. From afar, it literally looked like the scene from World War Z where there were literal waves of zombies. The water was just disgustingly murky and there were a lot of unmentionables floating about, but my child-self couldn't walk away from the wave pool and I ended up itching so bad for multiple days and got scars and rashes. As much fun as I had at the wave pool that day, it just wasn't worth it.

Don't do something knowing you're have a substantial problem with it. Be it sticking with good-paying job when you know you're slowly developing alcoholism from dealing with soul-sucking co-workers, or going on a "spiritually-fulfilling" backpacking trip when you know you're gonna end up in debt. Putting yourself out of your comfort zone is a great thing, but do it smartly. Obviously.

5. For everyone's sake, shower before going in the pool!

I will admit, I didn't know this until I started going more regularly, but showering before going in the pool is actually really important! A good chunk of the impurities in pool water is actually not from pee, but is actually from the dirt from people's skin that just mixes in with the water right as we all, basically take a communal bath together. Just shower, guys. With soap please, or at the very very least, drench yourself before going in. Please.

This point was mostly made because I want people to understand that you have to shower before going in a pool, but it's also good to mentally and emotionally cleanse yourself before you go about on your day. Don't hold on to the negative thoughts you had the day before and carry it into a new day. It is not gonna do you any good, and it could possibly be affecting other people as well. Feel clean, from the inside out.

TV Shows I'm Currently Following: Part 1

Hi.

Writer's note: This has been in my drafts for two months. I apologize.

I apologize for the lack of updates recently! I just realized that it has been more than a month since my last post, and it truly hasn't felt like it's been that long. School, more like the mere thought of it, has been draining and the amount of work makes me want to collapse into nothingness.

Most of my friends would know that if there is one thing that I can do every day for the rest of my life without, it is to watch TV shows and films. Some would ask how I manage to keep up with the storylines of each show, but I'll leave that for another post. Here's a list of the TV shows I have recently watched/am watching/about to watch!

2 Broke Girls
have watched - waiting for season 3 - sitcom
It is about two broke girls, trying to start a cupcake business in New York. Watch if you like sarcastic and lame humor at the same time. Laugh track included.

Adventure Time
am watching - about to start on season 5 - animated series (for kids)
It follows the adventures of a boy named Finn, a talking morphing dog named Jake, and their anthropomorphic candy friends. Watch if you want to learn heart-wrenching life lessons in a fun and colorful way.

Arrested Development
am watching - about to start on season 4 - sitcom
A formerly wealthy incredibly dysfunctional family tries to adjust to living within their means, but fails miserably. Watch if you want to see a cute and chubby Michael Cera.

The Big Bang Theory
have watched - waiting for season 7 - sitcom
It follows a group of incredibly smart, but stereotypically nerdy, physicists and their hot female neighbour. Watch if you want lots and lots of laugh tracks. Laugh track included.

Bob's Burgers
have watched - waiting for season 4 - animated sitcom

A family tries to live off whatever little they can get from their burger restaurant as each family member gets into some conflict with practically everyone in the neighbourhood. Watch if you like butts and think an incredibly awkward 14-year old with an incredibly powerful passion for butts is incredibly hilarious.

Breaking Bad
am watching - currently rewatching from season 4 - drama/crime
A washed-up brilliant chemist turned chemist teacher found out he has cancer and ends up cooking meth with who he thought to be a street-wise dude. Watch if you like science, bitch! And also if you want to find out ways to kill people and make drugs.

The Carrie Diaries
have watched - waiting for season 2 - teen drama
A prequel to Sex and The City, it follows the teenage life of Carrie Bradshaw before she moved to the Big Apple. Watch if you like teen dramas and to see how many episodes it'll take for you to start to think Austin Butler is cute.

Community
have watched - waiting for season 5 - sitcom

A study group full of misfits who ended up in community college together would constantly go through the weirdest shenanigans. Watch if you appreciate metahumor and pop culture references.

These are only a third of the list of shows I am currently following. I will work on part two and three (maybe possible four whoops) over the next week! And yes, I do enjoy a whole lot of sitcom.

So what TV shows do you like watching? I hope you are having a lovely lazy weekend watching your favourite TV series.

Goodnight.

Goals for 2013

Hi.

The next year is just around the corner, and I feel uncomfortable ending 2012 on a depressing note.

The year has been both good and bad, and there is no way for me to come up with a proper conclusion on how I feel about this year as a whole. I guess there were happy times, there were horrible times, but it's mostly just this huge grey period of nothingness. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Unfortunately, the world did not end on December 21st, so now we have to continue living and being positive about things, and carry on pretending we would rather walk the streets feeling excited to find out what's about to happen next, rather than just know it has all ended and no more bad can happen any longer.

In an attempt to make this post look like it's not going downhill, here's a list of things I'd like to accomplish by the end of 2013.
  1. Have at least $1k in my bank account by the end of the year. I'm the worst when it comes to money, so I should probably start training how to not run my wallet dry before I move to the UK.
  2. Be fit enough to participate in a colour run. If you don't know what a Colour Run is, better head yourself off to Google, because you are missing out! Losing weight is irrelevant, being able to survive running though colour is key.
  3. Have enough experience in the industry to own name cards. You know you're ready to jump into the "real world" pool without water wings on when you've got your own name cards.
  4. Finish what I start. I currently have two short films I'm half way done producing, and it really bothers me that I've not finished them sooner. This applies to projects I start in the future.
  5. Intern in a film company. Because logic.
  6. Learn how to dj and mix music. Just because I think it would be a fun skill to pick up.
Seems good enough, right?

Last year, I made a list of things I planned to do in 2012, and I didn't go through with most of them. Since this year's goals are more realistic, I think things would turn out much better than last year's attempt.

I hope you all survived the end of the world!

Goodnight.

Current Top 3 Youtubers

Hi!

I follow a good number of Youtubers, but there are some that catch my attention and hold it for a good while. Maybe grab on to it a little too tightly, and choke my innards out until I start vomiting phrases from that particular fandom. It's quite a disease, really.

So I present to you, a list of my current top 3 Youtubers.

http://dailygracegetsdressed.tumblr.com/
1. DailyGrace | Grace Helbig

Grace does daily videos, from mondays to fridays. She had a topic for each week like Comment Tuesdays, Tutorial Wednesdays, and my personal favourite, Sexy Fridays. Grace probably does not understand the concept of shame, but I mean that in the best way possible.

Grace talks about everything from Emmy Awards fashion reviews, to being in a beauty pageant, to 101 ways to say no to sex, all in her usual comedic, satire fashion. Also she is probably the punniest Youtuber out there. Exactly my type of humour.

http://www.facebook.com/Hannah.Hart.Fanpage
2. My Drunk Kitchen | Hannah Hart

Hannah makes cooking videos while drunk and is also very punny. That is it. I have nothing else to say. If you do not feel the need to watch her videos from that sentence alone, I don't know what you're doing with your life.

Hey, gurl / can I take you home / can I get yo' numbah' / can I get you alone / d'you wanna be inside my oven / for some lovin' and covin' / and we're like witches and bitches / 'cause that's what coving means / just in case / nobody understood why I said witches all of a sudden / just like I'm gonna put this tiny hen in my oven / tiny Cornish / game hen / tiny Cornish / say when?! / tiny Cornish / game hen / everybody loves it / everybody loves it!

http://www.facebook.com/charlestrippy
3. CTFxC | Charles & Alli Trippy

Charles & Alli are a couple who've been making 10-15 minute long Youtube videos every single day, for four years. And counting. They vlog and take us with them through their day, which might seem ridiculous to some people, but I personally think it's great because we get to see what it's like being on their side of the world.

They're one of my all time favourite Youtube channels, and I've watched their videos every single day since I've discovered them and I've never been disappointed. We've watched them grow and change and even get married. Now, I'm not one to care about wedding stuff, but watching their wedding video makes me tear up every single time.

So these are my current top three Youtubers you should definitely check out. Whenever I've run out of things to watch, I'd always go back to these three and watch their videos over and over even after I've watched every single one of them at least twice.

I hope you're all having a wonderful week and have plenty Youtube videos to procrastinate with!

Good night.

Remember this list? I have not done a single thing on this list except for the DO section. I'm halfway through filming Vomit & Chocolates, I've had lunch at Yoshimaru more times than I'd like to admit, NYLON Magazine has been on my bedside table for a week, I'm rewatching F.R.I.E.N.D.S. for the 7th time, and life is good.

I may not have done anything on this list, but I do feel rather accomplished. The past few weeks wasn't nearly as busy as the last semester holidays, but I guess it was a good thing. There was a good mix of work, catching up with friends, catching up with family, and alone time.

There's only three more weeks 'til school starts, and I am not excited. Not one bit.

Good morning.

Hire me.

Hi.

The first week of my holidays has past and somehow, I feel like it has been going on for a month. I've done nothing but fill myself silly with food and watch numerous movies and shows. I'm not even signed up for any jobs or events yet. After my incredibly busy holiday last semester break, my lack of plans right now seems very odd.

So far
  • I've watched The Dark Knight Rises with Nicolette
  • I've finally gotten my Doc Martens
  • I've had dinner at Timbre @ Art House with my class
  • I've watched series 3 & 4 of Skins, Shrek 3 & 4, and Kung Fu Panda 2
  • I've finished reading This is a Love Story by Jessica Thompson
  • I've had a steamboat dinner with Nicolette, Kelly, and Kuan Hui
  • I've reorganized my online portfolio
  • And I've slept for 24 hours straight in a day
I'm supposed to film a video for my grandmother's birthday this week, meet up with Arlyn tomorrow, drag my ass to school for PPP on wednesday, and God knows what other stuff this week, then I'm flying off to the Philippines on Friday night and will be back on the 2nd of September.

I've applied for an internship for a magazine and I really really hope that I would get it. I've got a back up internship to apply for, though I'm not sure how I feel about it. I've also been on the lookout for jobs in case the whole internship thing doesn't work. My usual photography assistant gig has been kinda slow recently, so I think I need a more regular job since it is the holidays and I need to buy things.

It's 7.05am now. I'm gonna read a couple of pages of The Night Circus, then pass out.

Goodnight.

This is what my holiday to do list looks like after eight weeks. It was my most productive holiday to date and I honestly can't believe I didn't spend half the time on my bed. I actually think that I went out more during the holidays than when I went to school last semester. I can't decide if that's surprising or not.

A lot of stuff has happened since the last time I did a what-happened blog post, and I'll try to make individual posts for everything soon. A lot of stuff is gonna happen  in the next few weeks, and I'll try to make individual posts for those things too. How exciting. My planner's been pretty much full to the brim week after week, but it's been pretty fun.

Like I said, I'm a photographer for Poshism, but I do upload some of my own looks on it. Here's one look that got approved recently. I love this combo, because it's all my favourite pieces together! Not as special as the other outfits on Poshism, I know, but I'm happy it got approved! I shall do a post explaining what Poshism is and how it works and everything really soon!

Another photography thing that I'm doing is posting photos on my new Street Photography blog on Tumblr. Click the logo to go to the site. I used to not like photography, but now I'm just like meh. I don't necessarily think it's art, my own work, I mean, but I just like capturing things I find interesting and sharing it with the world. Maybe that's what some people may think what art is, but to me it's just fun and games, but I still do hope you like it.

It's currently 5am. I don't have classes later, but I do still need to go out later, so I'm gonna attempt to sleep now. Go on Poshism and Posh me. Muchos loves.

  1. Finish filming and editing Focus & Aperture
  2. Meet up with Shannen
  3. Start on Zombies, Run! missions
  4. Finish writing 15
  5. Send in internship emails
I'm quite upset that I wasn't able to do as many things as I have hoped. I didn't expect to finish everything on the list, but I didn't know I'd be doing this little. I didn't even get to touch my movies list. But to be honest, I'm still pretty satisfied with all that I've done during this holiday. I think I can safely say that I've been making the best out of these past couple of weeks.

THINGS I PLAN TO DO NEXT WEEK:
  1. Finish filming and editing Focus & Aperture
  2. Start on Zombies, Run! missions
  3. Finish writing the script for Homemade Chocolate
This seems fairly plausible and easy. Good enough to finish off the last bit of my holidays. Seems good.

Anchor

It's been awhile since I've written anything on here. Things have changed quite a bit since I've last posted anything, despite it being less than two weeks.

  • I saw Kina Grannis.
  • I am now a photographer for Poshism.
  • I danced for a whole day for FBC danceboot(y)camp.
  • I am writing a new script and hoping to film it really soon.
  • I watched Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, and I must own the book.
  • I have been going out six out of seven days a week for the past few weeks.
  • I got my very first (and very last, I promise Demeter) hair extension.
  • I am starting to slowly rebuild my book collection.
  • I impulsively scissored my fringe off again, forgetting that I need to braid my hair for camp.
  • I deleted my Tumblr account, and opened a new one to post up my street photography.

It's been almost a year since I started polytechnic, and I'd like to believe that I've changed a whole lot. I've learnt to be more sociable, I've become both more tolerant and more intolerant, I've grown to be more hardworking, and I am now more appreciative of a lot of things.

I've started a lot of projects and did a lot of new things recently, and I'm pretty proud of myself. I've saved up and bought a 50mm lens, I'm producing two short films and planning to do a simple music video, I got myself a DIY twin-reflex camera and I want to plaster my wall with the photos, I worked as a photographer's assistant, I'm doing street fashion photography for Poshism, I'm doing street photography for myself. How exciting!

There's has been a lot of changes, accomplishments, and projects recently and I really do hope that there would be very more to come very soon.

Vomit

Hi

This will be a vomit of a post. It's gonna look like the Twitter timeline of an annoying teenager, but who gives a fuck. Alright? Ok.
  • The most treasured thing I can sacrifice for someone is sleep, so if I manage to get my ass out of my extremely comfortable bed to see you, or not sleep because of you, you are important to me. Remember that.
  • I may not be a princess, but by right, I am YOUR princess. It's nice to see where I stand knowing that your Bible Study is more important than me.
  • I am now a two-pointer. I have dropped from a decent 3.14 to a 2.85. And that is despite having a B for LocPro. I am disappointed with myself.
  • I recently realized that I am a micromanager, with an extreme need for appearances to be consistent.
  • I think some people find baking therapeutic because they only need to follow a recipe to have what they want. They have full and total control over everything, even though they technically do not.
  • I grew up with two brothers and male cousins. I've seen everything that there is to see, and yes, I will wrestle with you. And I will win.
  • You changed things you used to do, because I told you to do so. So don't sit there and pretend I don't matter.
  • I hate that I crave for praises, but I actually do not like it when people come up to me personally to compliment me on my work.
  • The worst thing I've ever wished someone is that they fall into a pit of Legos. I can't decide if that's just extremely cruel, or not so bad.
  • I think he is absolutely adorable with the hair, and the eyes, and just the right height, and the weird sense of humour.
  • It pains me to let other people even touch my Wreck This Journal, let alone let them write in it, but I guess it is something I need to overcome.
  • I am currently taking 9 different vitamin supplements and pills, and that's not counting Panadol Extras and Strepsils.
  • I hate it when people say people with Cancer or fat people or people with mental or physical diseases are beautiful. If they're not, they're not. There is no need to constantly reassure them that they are beautiful. Their beauty does not define them.
  • I really dislike it when people turn into music snobs. I can appreciate one's talent in music, but I do not have to like them. I would much rather listen to Kimya Dawson, than Adele, even if Adele has a much better voice. I know and appreciate that she's awesome, but that doesn't mean I have to like her.
  • I also dislike it when people cannot differentiate an entertainer from a musician. People who say Kpop stars are talentless idiots infuriate me. They are extremely talented entertainers and are much more successful than you will ever be, and they don't even have to be an amazing musician.
  • We are in a flitriendship. Flirting friends relationship. I AM SO AMUSED. I love people who I can be like this with.
  • The worst thing about being sick, is not the pain, but the painfully sad options of food I can eat.
  • I hate it when I initiate an idea for an event and start planning it with other people, then somehow, I'm unable to make it to the date they decided on, and they just go on with it and completely disregard the fact that I was the one who wanted the event to happen in the first place. Scumbag friends.
  • I hate it when people only take me seriously when I freak out and have a meltdown. They completely ignore my words when I talk to them calmly, but the moment I start to raise my voice, they start giving me this talk about how I need to calm the fuck down and that there's no need to use this tone of voice. Hello, if you had started listening to me when I was talking calmly, there wouldn't be a need for me to raise my voice.
  • It really bothers me how things doesn't seem right recently. I hope this all reverts back to normal soon.
  • I am fully aware that most of the things on this post looks like it's going against my previous blog post about me being nice. I don't really agree though.

That is all. For now at least.

Vomit & Chocolates

RecklessRecords.tumblr.com

Certain thoughts and things have been coming to mind recently. Must be the time of the year. Horrible horrible things.

Sometimes I regret what I've done, but I guess it was a good thing that it happened. I'm sad that things stopped, of course, but as lame and cliché as it is, I guess all good things come to an end.

Rocketric

Please don't judge me, but I will just verbally vomit all over this blog post. It's been awhile.
  1. I should've picked up those calls.
  2. I should've called back.
  3. I should've left that party earlier.
  4. I should've gone to the party.
  5. I should've stayed and slept over.
  6. I shouldn't have slept so early.
  7. I should've replied everything.
  8. I should've been on Skype.
  9. I shouldn't have stayed at home.
  10. I should've said yes.
  11. I should've said no.
  12. I should've met the friends.
  13. I should've introduced the friends.
  14. I should've given the gift earlier.
  15. I should've just gone over.
  16. I shouldn't have drank the coffee.
  17. I should've just turned off my phone.
  18. I should've just stayed there the whole day.
  19. I should've just said everything.
  20. I should've just shut up.
Oh, God. What have I done with my life.

In other news, hell month has just begun for me in school. 3D Art is looking good. Animation is looking good. Intro to CG is looking fairly good. Socpsy is a waste of time, and 7issues can suck my dick. And as much as I love filming, I am not looking forward to doing Locpro at all. Oh goodness. Amy and Lava will hopefully save me.

Also, I have a lot of film work I'm planning to do during the holidays. It's the one major thing that's getting me through all my school work. I've got two short films in mind, a trailer I want to pitch in for the youth musical, me and Kuan Hui's psychopathic short film, Ben's drum cover video, a secret gift video for a secret group of people, and a couple more ideas that I've yet to put into paper. I AM SO PSYCHED.

I need to pass out now.

Goodnight.
